Proverbs 17:3-5

New International Version

³ The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold,^(A)
    but the Lord tests the heart.^(B)

⁴ A wicked person listens to deceitful lips;
    a liar pays attention to a destructive tongue.

⁵ Whoever mocks the poor^(C) shows contempt for their Maker;^(D)
    whoever gloats over disaster^(E) will not go unpunished.^(F)
